Value of 70 diesel rowcrop?

Looking at a 1955 JD 70 diesel with power steering and no 3 pt. The tractor was not running this morning as the owner has it in storage but when it warms up the owner said he would run it for me. It has the original pony and relatively new 15.5 rubber in the back. According to the owner it was professionally overhauled including pony around 1980 and has only 1600 hrs on tach since. He said it does not have the taper lock for the flywheel. What is a reasonable offer to make? Thanks,

I let the seller set an asking price before I make any offers. It's too easy to offend a seller with a low ball offer.

If both the hydraulics and power steering work, then $3,500 would be a minimum offer here in NE Texas.

Pete....it depends somewhat on where it's located. Higher prices out east, lower prices down south. Take a good look at what the tractor needs
in the way of cosmetic items (seat cushions, new steering wheel, etc) and functional items (pto shields, lights, gauges, etc). Total the cost of
those items and subtract it from $3500. When you're on the selling side it's hard to get more than $3500 out of an unrestored 70 diesel. This is
what I have experienced in the upper Midwest (Wi,Mn,Mi)
 
Good looking rear rubber, seat not so, no 3 point, last 1 I watched sell with 3 point $3250. Been a couple
of years ago. They don't bring near as much as they did 15 years ago. The younger guys are wanting something
newer.

A Neighbour picked up a JD 70 D on a trade for Cat work (valued $3000.00)...70 D Looked GREAT... three point rear tire 80% left:

Started and ran perfect: Straight Electric Start:

Hooked onto a 4 X 16" Plough:

8+ hours Valve in head pulled clean down through the VALVE SEAT!

All Valve seats and Valves had to be replaced.

Nice original tractors are selling good at auctions.In ohio that 70 would
probably bring close to 5000 even without 3pt.Not many of them around that nice.
