4320 questions

Looking at a 4320 and notice a little oil coming out the crack between motor and clutch sections. Am I right to assume it is the rear main seal? Also when you engage the clutch and start the tractor rolling and push the clutch back in there was a noise below and behind the seat. Kind of a slight clunk barely noticeable but still there. It does have a cab. Any thoughts?

Could be main seal, but also could be the PTO engagement cylinder leaking. Or the transmission input shaft seal. Any oil dripping from the clutch inspection cover???

A certain amount of "clunk" in the planetary final drives is normal as the load direction on the drives changes.

Both of my 4020's do that at times, and have done it for years, with no apparent change/worsening and no filings in the screen or filters, so I son't think anything is coming apart. (I hope!)

Pull the cover off below the clutch housing and run it a bit with the PTO on,,if the PTO operating piston seals are leaking you will see it,,I know I don't need to tell you...but don't reach up in there while it's running...If it is the rear main seal the PTO seals should be changed any way while you have it split...

Yes! ROPS, either in a cab or on their own, really magnify any transmission noises. If you put a set on a tractor, you will notice an immediate difference.
