Jd 5 mower behind a b

I have a no 5 mower being used with a jd b. When i go down the road with this mower behind in high gear. Any little bump i hit in the road makes the rear wheel on the mower go around in circles until i slow down, i am afraid im going to break off the rear wheel. What can i do to get this to stop?

Maybe figure out a way to put a spring on it to spring load it to the straight ahead position. MY 6' Deere belly mower under my JD855 has such an arrangement. By the way, I have a pair of No. 5 mounting brackets that bolt on the "H" drawbar support if somebody's interested.

Run the mower tire with less air pressure. It should solve the ?whipping? motion problem.

If there is no emergency or urgent need to drive in high gear, then you might consider driving in a lower gear at a lower speed.

The No. 5 mower drawbar is designed to pivot on the tractor drawbar.

There are two designs for the No. 5 mower drawbar on mower.

Take a look at the [b:654c4848f0]DRAWBAR ON MOWER AND ATTACHING PARTS[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below commonly referred to as the "[i:654c4848f0]Quik-Tach[/i:654c4848f0]" hitch.

Note the eyebolt (Key 5) and eyebolt tail nut (Key 6).

You might consider loosening the eyebolt tail nut to allow less restriction at the pivot point.

Take a look at the second [b:654c4848f0]DRAWBAR ON MOWER AND ATTACHING PARTS[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below.

Note the 3/4" nut (Key 2) and 3/4" x 2 1/2" bolt (Key 4).

You might consider loosening the 3/4" nut to allow less restriction at the pivot point.

Hope this helps.
