Replacing 8310 clutch cable...

Anybody on here ever done it? Wondering if it can be accessed/replaced through the cab floor or if major disassembly is required?

Bob, I have not replaced the cable myself but see no reason it cannot be done without too much troubles. What will challenge you, and I have done, is getting clutch cable return spring on back side of transmission back on. Maybe you will not have to remove it but if you do there is a couple ways to get it back on. If you have a second person you can put a snare wire on it and have second person stretch spring from right side of tractor through frame hole, then guide it on anchor pin with tools. Sounds easy but not really. Another option which works if working by yourself is to put clutch spring in vice and bend it side to side to stick flat washers between spring coils. This will cause/force spring to extend/get longer. It takes allot of flat washer to gain an inch. Thread a tie wire through washers to catch all of them when installed. Tie clutch pedal up to keep distance for spring as short as possible. Install spring with washers, and depress clutch pedal. Washers will come raining down. Good Luck, DW

Changed one in the field once......had a light chain on the spring hooked to a come-a-long hooked to the hitch on the service van. Quite certain that's not how its done in the factory.

Got it done. No big deal, just some pretty tight places, for a tractor that big!

Spring was in place and stayed in place, so nothing to fight with there.
