My fan shaft is leaking at the governor housing is this easy to fix or do I need to take sheet metal and radiator off??? If someone has done this please tell me what intails. thank you

That is a shim pack. Don't be reckless with it. I'm watching for answers - mine leaks a little too.

An o-ring where the tube meets the ventilating pump housing, then a gasket between the vent pump section/sections ? and then shim gaskets where it all mates up to the gov. housing. That is some major work to get that all torn down. If it is just leaking where the tube goes into the first casting maybe clean it up super good and try some JB weld or something around it ? If you do take it off make sure to save the shim gaskets for reuse or to measure the thickness to match up NEW ones.

Yes, you're right Rick - I first thought of the vent pump/governor housing connection.

Changing that O-ring is a big job.

Some have more room to get the power steering pump moved forward than others. Depends on the radiator core thickness. If I was to go that far in and remove the fanshaft I'd also rebuild the power steering pump while I was that close unless you knew it had been done before ? Those seals get rock hard in them.

I vaguely remember something to that effect. Wasn't sure if all the later ones or only the really late ones ? If his doesn't have one and it is leaking there then he has even bigger problems ! It will have to be marked or tacked ? and then brazed or welded when its apart to seal it up for good. I have had a few up at the power steering pump end in the past I did this to guarantee no leaking.
