Hour meter not working 2640

I have 2640 tractor that had a tachometer that the hour meter did not work. I bought a used one put in in but the hour meter does not seem to
work on it but did not have time to run tractor much. should the tenth hour slot move be rolling up slowly or does it take a while to move. Itf this
one is not working is there an electrical hour meter I can buy to hook in to keep track of hours or has anyone ever done this.

They move, usually very slow. Check the tach drive should be square. If it's rounded off it wont read right or it won't read at all. I put a few rounds of tape on one and it ran that way a long time, finally broke down and put a new tach cable on it.

Takes six minutes to move one tenth of an hour.....with engine at rated pto speed, around 2200 rpm. Ben
