Steering locks up on my 730

Sometime when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left or right, it locks up and I have to use a lot of force to free it. Is this a problem in the pedestal or vanes area, or in the worm housing and steering valve?

They'll do all sorts of weird things when the "ramp" on the steering worm that operates the steering valve wears or chips badly.

If the "cylinder" the vanes run in isn't centered around the vanes, or is damaged, or the bolts that hold the moveable vane to the steering shaft come loose or break, it will jam, as well.

Probably some other possibilities, as well.

Things are loose in the steering valve and worm and sector. The worm gear end play is excessive, the backlash between the worm and sector needs adjusting, and the two dowel pins inside the sleeve have flat spots on them.

When you look at that lower bearing remember it is a thrust bearing and it does not have a cage on the balls in it, they are free floating.
