wood splitter hydraulics

I just purchased a used wood splitter that hooks up (hopefully) to the remotes on my 2630. The problem is that though the remote will drive the ram strongly through one cycle, it somehow immediately trips a relief valve or something upon return. I notice that when I pull the remote lever into engage position, the engine understandably goes under load. It seems though that it does not like it and there is strain on the system. I had a different splitter set up on a Massey and though it would occasionally trip a relief, it seemed to put up with it. Is there some adjustment I can make on the tractor, is there some re-plumbing I can do on the splitter itself. The guy I bought it from had it hooked up to a Deere and ran it for me and it seemed to operate OK. It does not trip while in the act of splitting itself; the tractor just seems to say "....I'll give you 15 or 20 seconds of pump, then I'm going put that remote lever back into neutral". What's going on?

Your splitter valve is probably "Open Center" and the 2630 is a "closed center",,these 2 don't get along...to make it work you will need to get a closed center valve..

Some hyd valves can be converted from OC to CC & vice-versa. Can you post a photo of splitter valve?

your remote can be fixed to return to filter cover or you can use a line from cover to hook up the return from valve on splitter as long as valve is a closed center as said below,,,must have a tapped filter cover and use hyd hose
