Looked at nice 4320 FWA has factory cab and a/c all original but has been O.H.Question about how many were made and what is it worth.I don't think the actual number is known but it looks like 21K were made.Have seen a few didn't know if 5%/10% would be close. Thanks

Almost sounds like the 4320 the BTO I worked for bought, Factory ROPS cab, A/C, but no FWA. It had 3 hours on it when I took it out plowing for 7-8 hours at night the day it was delivered. That extra 15-20 hp let it play with the F-145 5-14 plow. That was the only night the A/C worked on that tractor. Month or 6 weeks later when I ran it on the chopper chopping haylage the compressor had locked up, windows were wide open and I was eating dust like I did on the 4020 the 2-3 years before.

I would think the number of 4320's with factory cab & A/C with HFWA would be in the low hundreds, like 100 to 200. So maybe 1%. 2% tops. I grew up 20 miles from Moline, seen thousands of 4010/4020, etc. and have never seen a HFWA tractor in person. Seen quite a few FWA Farmall's. They built two per day maximum. But back in the late '70's and early '80's, 86-series production, less than 1% of production had FWA.

I have seen a few sellers of HFD tractors saying they are documented as such. I was told deere didn't keep records of the hfd serial numbers. Anyone know. Too bad they couldn't have worked that aspect into the serial number equation somehow.

That extra power really did help a lot compared to a 4020 ours had the cab but no heat no ac I really wish I could have kept that tractor

The 3020-4320 front wheel assisst spindles are the same than the 5200, 5400,5420,5440,5460 chopper. So be careful as some have been reworked.
Someone in Belgium tried to sell high $ a 1964 Powershift 4020 HFWD. It was not hooked up and did not have the button on the dash nor the shifter cover with the switches.

In 1970 a neighbor bought a new 4320 with factory air. I ran it off and on for three or four years and the air always worked. He might have had the air worked on multiple tiles that I don’t know of.

For tillage, the 4320 was a factory version of what close to HALF of the 4020's around home were anyhow, with M&W turbo's added. If someone farmed hills they added a turbo to avoid having to downshift. Deere intended 4th to be the main tillage gear, but everybody wanted to run in 5th.

The BTO who bought the 4320 also traded an open station nfe '64 4020-D for a '70 nfe side console 4020. The 4320 was actually too much hp for his FOX chopper with the windrow pickup. Shearpin for the pickup and feed rolls would shear with the slightest slug. I actually got along better with the open station 4020, it would pull down 50-100 rpm letting me know the chopper was loaded. But chisel plowing, moldboard plowing, I'd take the 4320 over a 4020 any day. Was funny, chisel plowed with 4320 one fall in his one 80 acre field. Following fall was out with his new to him 2470 CASE on the same chisel plow. Case was making around 220 hp. Covered ALOT more ground with the Case. Nice tractor. Had 28Lx26 tires, rode real nice.

He might have had better success in fishing for a sucker if he used more convincing bait - the 4020
wasn't available with factory front wheel assist until the 1969 model year.

actually two cylinder club and john deere have JUST recently found a great cache of documents on the new gen HFWD
this new data specifically documents factory front wheel assist to the 3020 and up starting at 1969 era.
i think its a great break through on serial number indentification for these tractors. I know of a few tractors that
have had the front wheel assist added in a restoration to double the value of a tractor that is not genuine.
I think the sky is the limit of these new gen tractor $$ prices on something that is documented and genuine.
this 4320 is a great example and if the price is right, dont be hesitating on it.
or you will miss out.
happy deer hunting

I always did heavy tillage in 3rd sometimes 4th we had a five bottom ih plow and that?s what we did mostly was moldboard everything then in the spring we pulled a 25 foot Melroe multi weeder or a 35 foot allis chalmers Harrow cart the 4320 would pull the melroe in fifth and the harrow cart in 7th the 4020 would pull the melroe in 3rd or sometimes 4th never pulled the harrow cart with the 4020 I don?t know why .
