Rubber on Plow Wheels

I am trying to put some kind of rubber tire on a John Deere #51 plow wheel. Want to bolt a tire to the steel wheel. Has any one had any success doing this.

Back in the day people just slit the side of a tire in about 4 places and slipped the whole tire over the rim.

Just take a tire and cut the tread out the same width as the steel rim and just bolt it of same as steel lugs would be. Common on steel wheel tractor used for show purposes only. And the Amish still do what the other poster says. But you will have better luck just bolting a tread on. That is the way the Amish do it if they have to do road travel with their spreaders.

I guess what I am asking, does any one know the tire size that I can cut the side wall out and slide the tire onto the the steel wheel. Got thrown out of a motorcycle shop trying to measure inside diameters of the tires.

Find yourself an aligator the type big trucks leave when they have a blow out you will never have to
replace it again.
