JD LA Questions

Hello, I have a new to me JD LA. I have some questions which are hopefully easy to answer.

- My serial tag is missing, is there any casting codes or any other way to at least guess the year?

- The throttle has a wire (looks farmerized) that runs from the front of the back of the motor to the governor. I guessed it would be a rod. The throttle works REALLY hard. I'm hoping there is a way to fix this.

- Mine does not have the original seat. I think it's different than the ones on the A, B, ect. Am I correct and where is a good place to get one from?

Thanks for the help!

No way to really tell the year.

They have a throttle cable from the back of the clutch housing that runs up to the governor. A metal rod runs from the clutch housing back to the operator.

Not sure on the seat ? Do you have a pic. of it.

For the seat try Ridenours, Rusty Acres Ranch.

You can get an idea what the original seat and mount look like from the picture I posted.

Also what plugs do you guys recommend? I went to Autozone to get another couple Autolite 216 but they didn't have them in stock. She sold me a crosslisted NGK BL-6. Not sure if I should use them or not.

I mean will it work... I would guess probably. I always ran Autolite's in my LA, MT, and now in my 1010 and 1020. I cannot recall a time I had an issue or fouled plug...

Do you use 216 or 437? I don't plan on working this tractor very hard so I thought maybe I should go with a hotter plug?

I always used the hotter plug. I worked the MT as it was our main tractor on our small farm until last year. The LA didn't get as much work but still had the hotter plug. Used it to plow and harrow with last year and no issues.

Thanks. I can't tell by the pic but how many holes does your seat have in it? Thanks
