Rim/tires for JDA

1951 JD-A What would the rear rim size be? It has a cast wheel. I would like to install 13.6 X 38 tires. It has 11 X 38 on the rims now. Are Carlyle and Alliance tires ok to use? Are Firestone better?

I have 13.6 38 on my 48 A there Armstrong tires with factory original rims. I don't know there width is. I have Firestone field and road on my other A and love them . I like the looks of 13.6 38 .

Ours (1949) had 13.6 x 38 on it when it was bought and when I over hauled it I put a power block in it and put new 14.9 x 38 on it.

We bought a 1949 A and it had 13.6 x 38 but when I overhauled it with a power block and I put on 14.9 x 38 . The 14.9s worked out great.

I think the 13.6 will work fine with your rims, 14.9 might be a little wide, unless you are planning to put a lot of hours on the A most any tire will last forever.

There's not a lot of difference in price between the two tires and if you do tractor rides the larger 14.9 will let you keep up .
