One way hydraulic cylinder on bush hog

Will a JD 730 two cylinder diesel tractor operate a one way cylinder by only hooking up to one of the rear remotes on the tractor? Looking at buying a pull type bush hog that the rear wheels/lift operates with a one way cylinder. I have never tried to operate a one way cylinder on my 730. The bush hog is several hundred miles from me. I realize the cylinder/hoses can be replaced with a two way setup. The weight of the bush hog will push the fluid back just not sure the 730 hydraulic system will allow the fluid to return in the same hose. I think the one way cylinder will work on my tractor just need someone to verify before committing to buy the bush hog. Any information on this matter is appreciated.
Thank you, TPat

IIRC , the owners manual shows where to turn an adjustment screw to set them up for a one way cyl. So I'm almost sure 99% it can be done.

We mow all our hay with a 1209 & 1219 haybine's, they both are one way cylinders & we mow with 730's..
Rh side of power troll box ( upper ) there is adjustment , you screw in for one way action. (I think)
It's been awhile since I changed it, can't remember using either 730 with a double action cylinder..
Once you remove the cap nut if it's out, you screw it in & if in screw it out.

If the cylinder on the bush hog has been built in the last 50 years it is convertable to one-way or two-way
and has a small screw-in breather in the port for the second hose. I'd put a 2-way cylinder on the bush
hog or convert the cylinder on it to 2-way by adding hose and coupler.

Having a 2-way stroke control cylinder on a bush hog is a nice advantage, easy to return to same cut height
every time you raise the cutter.

I cut thousands of acres with a pull type bush hog with one-way cylinder, but if I had it to do over now,
I'd use a 2-way cylinder since I added a 2-way valve to the tractor I'd use.

Agree with [b:654c4848f0]susandiane[/b:654c4848f0]'s statement "[i:654c4848f0]on a 70 it will, just use lower port[/i:654c4848f0]".

Both of our KRONE balers are one-way cylinders.

We use 2 of our Model 70s to operate these balers.

Actually - you back the screw out for one-way cylinder operation. There is a cap nut on the right rear of the powertrol valve box. The screw is under the cap nut. Just did it today.

It's hard to remember which way it goes, but like you say, if it don't work one way, try the other. The next question is - which outlet do you use? I can't remember that one - I'd have to go look.

You are correct, in fact after I got home & the 730 pony start was sitting there on the feed grinder & I had a 6"
adjustable wrench in my pocket, removed the cap nut & seen it was out!!

Many thanks to all who took their time to assist me in this matter. It really helps those such as myself that has limited knowledge or experience. It is neat to hear the old tractors/equipment operate.

Thanks again,
