Tractor related cuz I take the RV to tractor shows SO THERE LOL

On my Ford E 450 Super Duty Class C RV Chassis I have Firestone so called "10 Ply" Load Range E Tires on the rear duals LT225 X 16. I think LT235 X 16 may still fit ????

Just had the Smart Weigh performed at Escapees RV Park and I'm a bit overweight in the rear so wondered do they make a so called "12 Ply" hopefully higher load rated tire (F maybe ???) in the 225 X 16 or 235 X 16 that will fit my duals and give me a bit more weight rating???????????

Thanks in advance, best wishes n God Bless all here

Just went thru this looking for higher rated tires for camper trailer, wanted 16 inch, LT (light truck tires), made in US. I found only one maker, Goodyear, with G rated tires, (110 lbs) made in US, think they are rated 14 ply. Have been excellent, so far. Note, this change in tire capacity will not increase your wheel or Axel capacity, but give you much greater safety margin in the tire area. Further info, may need to be sitting down, when pricing above item...... best of luck on your decision.

Might find something at a trailer or mobile home dealer. Maybe some takeoffs. I got some 12 ply tires for my equipment trailer at a real good price.

I'm guessing your current tires are 225/75-16. The only LT-type 235 tire I see in the Tire & Rim Assoc. book is an 85 aspect ratio - 235/85-16. These tires would be nearly 2.5 inches taller than what you have now so there could be fit-up problems, your speedometer would read quite low, and you may notice a loss in power due to the change in overall "gear ratio". As long as you have 6.5 or 7 inch rims (not 6 inch which you may well have) you could consider a 245/75-16 which would only be an inch taller than your current tires.

Your current tires have a load rating of 2470 lbs each in a dual configuration and both the 235/85-16 and 245/75-16 are rated at 2778 lbs (all assuming load range E, 10 ply rating at 80 psi inflation pressure).

(quoted from post at 11:39:01 11/03/17) If he can fit the 235/85R16, he can get ST tires in 10, 12, or 14-ply.

Not very wise to put a trailer rated tire on a motorhome.

Far more common--and makes far more sense--to put LT tires on a trailer.

The new 10 Ply Load Range E tires I have now are LIGHT TRUCK (LT) not Trailer Tires. They are LT 225x75 R 16.

Thanks

Our local tire dealer has 14ply rated tires. We use them on trailers. But he sells them also for heavily loaded ton trucks.
