4440 Lights

Lights would go out after being on for maybe 10 minutes. Friday my grandson tells me the lights never went out the night before hauling corn. The only thing that changed is the temperature was a good 30-35 degrees cooler. Is there a thermal circuit braker on the tractor and if so where is it? Thanks in advance. J.

They are behind the panel shown in the photo (NO fuses, tho!)

Those tractors had issues where the plastic part that held the buss bars and breakers would deform over time leading to loose connections at the breakers, leading to more heating and even melting the plastic.

Yes, the eyelets on the breaker post get a bit of corrosion under them, then the bad connection builds up heat that transfers down the lug and trips the breaker.. remove the nut, sand the eyelet clean and reinstall with a new nut.

Have 2 4440 tractors. On both replaced the original breaker mounting board where breakers mounted direct to plastic to the type Tim references with metal eyelets in the plastic. FWIW.
