JD 6X4 Gator Issue

Hello to All,

It's been awhile guys - hope you and your families are all doing well.

Have a 1998 JD 6x4 Gator, which both the back and middle axles are [obviously] fixed inside the body chassis, and joined by a chain on both sides. The chains are extremely loose and sagging real bad.

Since the axels are fixed, what would make the chains sag so much, and what is the fix? I know she's no spring ckn, but can the can the axle/sprocket chains stretch that much?

I would assume there's a master link for each chain, then you take out as many links as you can to comfortably re-install the master link to reconnect the chain.

Is there a special tool for this and what specifically do you need to do to fix this?

Thank you very much guys,
tstex

The back axles assemblies actually move. The frame is slotted. Loosen the 4 large nuts then you can move it. There is a 6mm bolt on each side coming out the rear to with a lock nut to hold them in place.

Joe/Barry,

Thank you very much guys - Joe I sent you a note via YD's messaging system....thanks again, tstex
