2600 land plow

Moving up in the world from 1 & 2 bottom plows to a 4 bottom 2600. Last time I used one was over 10 years ago and I didn't spend much time on it. This one has the hydraulic rear tail wheel, coulters, auto reset bottoms, and the on land wheel. Bottoms are good and there are receipts for a bunch of repairs and new parts. Price is right at $2,000 as far as I can tell for my area and I can drive the tractor to get it. I think the 6200 will pull it but if not it will go on the 7400.

Can anyone offer any insight on these? Thanks!

Those plows would price cheaper around here. Really not much different in terms of day to day operation from other plows. The steering needs rephasing periodically which means turning the steering beam to the right so the spring loaded knob makes contact with the steering valve. I don't think they turn soil as nice as a White or IH but get the job done. We have a 2800 6 bottom on land to sell if anybody is interested. In any event be sure to have an owner's manual to cover operation and adjustments.

I'm over in Massachusetts and we had been looking at some stuff at MacFadden's before this popped up. There was a nice 720 IH but it was not cheap. Around here everyone puts IH bottoms on the JD's because the IH wear parts are cheaper so I had a hard time justifying the cost of that 720 even with some new wear parts.

Not tons of plows around us locally as most guys are no-till and the vegetable guys do not plow anymore for the most part.
