While I had the engine out of my LA I decide to replace the clutch disc. Found a new one one ebay, looked identical to the one I was replacing. Now that the tractor is all back together here is the problem. When I first start the tractor and I put my foot on the clutch pedal, the drive shaft stops spinning as it should and I can put it into gear. When I release my foot you can hear the clutch disc sort of making a whining noise for a second and the tractor moves, whining noise stops. The next time you put your foot on the clutch the drive shaft does not stop. If you put all your weight onto the pedal it will eventually stop. Sometimes you have to release the clutch pedal and then try again but eventually it will stop. The whining sound continues while your foot is only half way on the clutch. As long as the tractor is moving there is no whining sound and it seems to work just fine.
I have adjusted the clutch pedal but not sure if that is still the issue. If the clutch pedal was out of adjustment why does the drive shaft stop spinning when I first start it up? Any thoughts?
