at auction today brought 1300.00. rear rims were very rusted from calcium. doubt if they could have been saved.

sounds expensive to me. rims are getting hard to find.
and alot of work to repair ones that can be saved.
thanks for the info.

If the rims were the only concern I would have brought it home. Needing to replace 70 year old rims ain't a big deal. Two new ones can be had for less than three bills. It's the tires that get you and that applies to any tractor.

where would one get new rims? I called a JD dealer and they told me new rims are unavailable. after market ???

Yep, aftermarket. Same as the ones for my Ford 851 I bought at NH years ago. Reliableaftermarket has them for $122 each + change. That's about the same as the ones for my Ford were. You do have to use your centers. Kind of ironic that my Ford has had to have all four rims replaced even though it is ten years newer than either of my M's and they are still holding up fine. Difference is the Ford had calcium and the Deere's didn't.

Whooo boy - over three times what they cost NEW! It's salvage yards like those that are sending the old two cylinders that are left to the scrapyard. They aren't worth fooling with when something breaks or wears out if you have buy from them. It's a shame. I see it on ebay all the time also. Lots of times you can still buy the part new from Deere at a third of the ebay price. The jocks are worse than GREEDY so if you want to keep the old iron you have to do a lot of searching.

For My model M I bought a Allis Chalmers sp100 Combine.. had 10x24 6 ply tires. I cut a 17.5 hole in the wheel center
Finished the Hole off , Center & drilled 4 9/16 holes & mounted the wheel & tires on the M, Never let the air out of
the Tires.. I paid 200.00 for the Combine.. I almost bought a Massey Harris for the same purpose but the tires I thought
looked too small for 8x24's. + they were not as nice tires. Granted the are not wavey rims like a M should have, but they
Lined up well & work perfect on the M. & at a much better cost. I junked the Combine after I sold what I could, Cleared
over 850.00 on the deal so I had free tires & wheel.. With the J/D wheel weights most people can't see the difference.
