830 (3Cyl) Power Steering

Has any of you ever installed one of the aftermarket power steering kits on a 830? Was wondering how well they work, or would I be ahead to get the used parts from a salvage yard and install them. All comments appreciated.

The 830 used a different hyd system (I can't remember if it is closed or open center). So you if you get parts from a salvage yard they will need to come of a 820,830 or an early 2040. You might need a different hyd pump as well. I know the 820 had a different pump for power steering and non power steering tractors. It is a very doable project. I have added power steering to several 1020-1520's. Tom

3 cyl 820,830 & early 2040's up to serial number -266749) were open center hyd's. Yrs back when 830's were new I installed factory power steering on 1. Factory power steering requires an extra hyd pump.
