JD 50 with 45 loader value

My father passed away in august and I am tasked with selling his possessions. Looking for input on establishing an asking price for his 1953' 50 with a JD 45 loader. The tractor has fresh paint and decals. It runs like a top and pops right off. I had to rebuild the carb and pull the gas tank and re-line it due to it sitting too long with fuel in it and not being ran. Just dropped a new voltage requlator on it too and she charges strong and runs strong. Rubber is practically 100%, the little molding fingers as I call them are still on the tread. PTO works, bucket works, lights work. I used the tractor the other day to move trees I cut down because the Massey 65 with loader is out of commission. Great little tractor.

I have the same set up on a 1955 50 w/a 45 loader. I wouldn't take less than $3200 for it. Very handy setup.

I have a 53 with some kinda short line fully hydraulic loader and beautiful tires but the tractor isn?t all painted up, I gave $2500 several years ago when the market was probably at its highest, it works great. I?d say $2500-$3000 in the condition your describing. That?s in my neck of the woods, north central Illinois. My loader is a lot more modern than a 45.

I have a 1955 50 without a loader and I wouldn't sell it for less than $4000 with all near new tires, painted good, many new parts throughout, power steering, live PTO.

Your location will have some bearing on what you can price it at. Where is it located?

I agree, would not give my 50 w/loader away either. They are a nice size tractor for the 45 loader, 45W in my case.

Maybe I'll "stir the pot", a little, here. No offense meant to anyone, but the other four guys that you've heard from, on here, all own 50s, and are in love with them. None of them are for sale. I base my $2,250 price on the fact that a 50 is an updated B, and you can buy all kinds of them for under $2,000. Since the loader is already on it, you might get another $250. A picture would be worth a 1,000 words. Alright guys, fire back.

It's located in Mt. Morris Il. My thoughts were starting around the 4000-4500 mark. Less than that and I'm selling the new tires and parts and practically giving the tractor/loader away.

You may have to "practically give the tractor and loader away", if you sell the tires off of it. A lot of tractors are worth more for parts, than they are in one piece. Maybe you should consider buying it. Let us know how you turn out.

Where do you see "all kinds of them for under $2000" ? I've never seen an add for that kind of sale. I've seen others say a 50 is an "updated "B". I view a 50 as a MAJOR improvement over a "B". Think power steering, live PTO and live hydraulics, duplex carburetor.

Ron-I'm being picky here, but power steering wasn't an option until 1954. His is a 1953. Not even that good of a loader tractor, without power steering, in my opinion.

Loren, you're absolutely correct. I didn't think of that detail. I fully agree that power steering is needed for loader work.

If anyone is interested, I have a 45 loader for sale. I'm downsizing but not ready to sell the tractor.
