So I am just wanting to know if anyone knows what way the muffler should be mounted on a john Deere br ? I was told bo should point down and br should go forward , is this correct ? I ask because the owners book that I have shows a bo and br on the cover and both are pointing down . any help would be great , thanks guys

I think in general the BR's were mounted horizontal, but then again you could of bought a BR with BO equipment so then muffler would of been mounted vertical (pointed down).

Bassiclly no right or wrong way to mount it.

There's no right or wrong way to have the muffler mounted. Most generally when looking at old BR/BO literature the muffler tends to be mounted vertically and that's how we have ours mounted. However, it's strictly up to you. I have attached a picture of my 1936 BR that's currently on display in the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum in Waterloo for a reference.
