4020 brakes

I noticed the right break on the 4020 seems to drag. I unhooked the line from the valve and have oil flow when the pedal is not pushed. Am I correct in thinking the valve is leaking thru? Seem to me there should be no flow with the pedal not depressed?

Yes,, the valve is a very simple set up, but can be a bit difficult to deal with. Some times a bit of dirt or something gets under it and keeps it from seating,,when this happens pumping that pedal a few times with the engine of will purge it and all is good again,,and some times moisture gets past a torn boot and lets the plunger that makes contact with the valve stick down enough to keep the valve off seat, when this happens the valve needs rebuilt. I can help you with it as you go if you want to tackle the job,,or you can ship it to me and I can go through it here and bench test it for you..

I had the same thing with mine. The dragging that is. Had the local Deere tech go thru the valve and he's really good. Still was dragging had to take the final drive off and redo the pads, clean the pistons and new o-rings.

It depends on how bad the rust has set in, a $150 plus parts,,I will post some parts cost tomorrow
