Low oil pressure JD 60

I started my 60 for the first time in a couple of years and it started right up with an oil pressure of about 20 psi. I noticed that after it warmed up, the oil pressure started slowly drop until is was hovering at about 4 to 5 lbs. I changed the oil to 15-40 rotella and put in a new filter and it still did the same thing.

I tried turning in the adjusting screw , and I can see the pressure move on the gage, but only in first minutes after the tractor is started. After it is warmed up, no matter how much I turn in the adjusting screw, the pressure doesn't change and hovers at 4 to 5 pounds.

What could be the problem?

Water could have froze in the plumbing parts and split a line or it could have just come apart on you too. I'd pull the oil pump and use shop air on the outlet of the oil pump to see if it's trying to spray anywhere it's not supposed to. Might check the coupler hasn't egg shaped to half running and half slipping when warm. It don't sound normal so a complete check up is in order, I'm thinking. Last resort you can plasti-gauge the rod bearings just for peace of mind if nothing else.

The relief valve you are tinkering with only controls or limits maximum oil pressure . Zilch to do with maintaining a minimum pressure .

Not enough to notice a significant difference, so a few pounds at best and at the end of the day, it's still not fixed. And you are out the cost of another complete oil change out. Cold it will be higher, but as it warms up that just melts away and you still have the vast difference you have which tells me somethings broke and you really need to open it up and chase the broken issue away with a genuine fix. All the comments given so far are spot on too, and so far, just a scratch on all the possibles that might be at fault. Spun rod bearing or broken oil pump gear just now comes to mind too for example. It should be very obvious once you get in there and apply some pressure artificially. That could be done backwards too, just plumb the oil pressure gauge fitting to shop air and look for bubbles. The YUGE escape will show itself, if it's leaking away.
