I had to look at some John Deeres today that haven't been ran for a couple years in this bunch is a 730 gas and 730 diesel. He wants me to get them running so he can sell them. The fuel from both ended up in the crankcase. Can someone tell me the crankcase capacities of these two? Also, am I going to be looking at problems with the diesel? Thanks

I would ask the owner for the operator's manuals before trying to tear into them blind.

The tractors are owned by an uncle to the guy I talked to. The guy is in a home and don't recall much and the guy I talked to can't find the books.

If the diesel crankcase is full of fuel, find someone knowledgable to help you with it. Could be a fuel transfer pump or an injector.

Off hand I do not remember how much oil goes into them. I think the neighbor used to bring up a 12 pack and that did the engine, pony motor and air cleaner. But I do remember that the Diesel model has an extra drain plug under the LH side timing cover. Make sure you also get this drained. That area will fill up when you put oil in the crankcase.

730 gas... 7.1 qts crankcase

730 diesel... 12 qts crankcase
This info came from Mr Thinkers Almanac third edition.

Here is the info im sure its the same for diesel but dont quote me.
