John Deere 301a hydraulic problems and rockshaft

Hi all. Been awhile since I posted so bear with me. I have a 301a diesel that I'm having so problems with. It has no reverser or shuttle and just has a two stage clutch for pto. My problem is I have some hydraulic shutter in the 3 point and it has hard time keeping a steady depth no matter what draft control is in. Sometimes when 3pt is like in the middle of its stroke the tractor Engine is laboring, and you either have to raise it all the way up or down to eliminate laboring. This machine has had John Deere hydraulic oil in it since new. All screens and filters are clean. My standby pressure is at 1750 testing at scv. It looks like a might have a hint of oil spray through the oil fill hole. I have a parts book but am unclear what part numbers I need to re seal rockshaft. If someone could tell that would be great. Also how do you test the transmission pump an easy way? Also how do you make sure the scv is not leaking by. I have tech manual but it is very vague in descriptions and shows all kinds of special equipment to test. Thanks to all that reply. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a big game of cat and mouse.[/b]

RS valve seal kit is AR92385 & T21641(gasket). On engine laboring when operating 3 pt sounds as if L/D control linkage needs adjusting as outlined in JD tech manual(control valves have incorrect clearance). On checking scv for leaking valves plug a 5000# gauge in rear breakaways activate control lever then when lever is returned to neutral gauge should remain at 2250 psi. You also need to attempt to set your tractors hyd stand-by pressure from 1750 to 2250 by turning stroke control screw into pump head.[/url]

Your pressure should be 2250psi. The rock shaft is easy to reseal, leakage is usually an o-ring on one of the small plugs in the valve housing.

According to my John Deere parts guy, seal kit ar92385 is no longer available. His computer says there are no other options. Have to order
parts separate. Any one have a sub number for the kit? Thanks for the help.

Thank you, Tx Jim for the research. Once I get my new radiator I will order this kit and reseal my rockshaft. Should I adjust my stand bye
pressure first or reseal rockshaft housing? Is there any tricks to resealing the rockshaft? Agains thanks for the response.

You're welcome. If it was my tractor I'd R&R seals before increasing stand-by pressure. Most difficult part of R&R rockshaft housing is getting cam follower on rear side of roller in control linkage while lowering housing on trans case.
