1010 diesel crawler

Anybody know how many of these were built or what one is worth? Looking at one with water in oil. Original paint good shape shed kept whole life. Undercarriage 80% runs good has loader. I'm guessing it needs a head gasket.

They made 127 ag and 6709 industrial diesel's, 380 ag gas one's and 9094 industrial gas. I'd bet it is the sleeve seals on the deck plate that are leaking. Ouch on that one.

On my 440 crawler the serial no. plate reads 440 IC (industrial Crawler). If it is a diesel the tag will read ICD. The AG crawlers I have seen were painted green, never really looked at the SN plate.

Typically the industrial ones are yellow. Ag ones usually didn't have any blade or loader either.
More than likely cracked cylinder liner than a bad head gaskets. Min. $700 for a new deck plate, if Deere still has any left. I thought when we bought ours a few years ago jdparts said there were only 2 in stock.

The sleeve deck is still avaliable.
Diesel is cheaper than a gas deck but still:

AT15761 Plate - PLATE,CYLINDER LINER ADD 945.37 USD

I guess dealer that you got PARTS price from must not think MSRP is enough so they charge 10% more.

AT15761 Plate - ADD 859.43 USD

I've got a complete 1010 diesel short block if you need some parts. It was a complete running engine, but I robbed the head for another project.

I would only pay what a parts machine would be worth as engine parts are expensive and RARE for those !
I don't think they are bringing a lot in decent running shape either.

Those 1010 and 2010 engines were also known to crack the webbing at the base of the cylinder holes.Between 1-2,2-3,and 3-4.I saw it at the JD dealer I worked at in the 70's.I had one that I had welded up,and hand finished it myself. That was in the late 80's and is still holding up.The machine has been through a couple sets of tracks since,I guess it was a good gamble. When the PC chambers acted up they tended to put compression in the radiator,I don't know if they could dump water in the base or not.I never knew that John Deere painted the 1010 and 2010 crawlers anything but yellow. When I worked at the JD dealer in the 70's I was the youngest one there so I was the crawler man.I still have a 1010 blade machine,a 1010 crawler loader backhoe, and a 440 crawler loader that has a bad engine.I just sold my 440 wheel loader backhoe that had a 2 cylinder Detroit in it.
