JD 2555 Hi-lo issue-ing oil

Looked into the rockshaft fill hole. I have a steady stream of oil dropping from right rockshaft just a little forward of it. The flow stops when I shut it down. I havent put the gauges on it yet. Johndeare720 quote-- I eliminated the hi-lo on my 2640. Very satisfied with tractor now. Took guts out of hi-lo unit and replaced input shaft with a non hi-lo shaft. Took some work to make sure there was a workable seal on the input shaft but worth the effort. Didn't know there was a kit but I think I have less than $250 in it. Has several hundred successful hours on it since. What does (Took some work to make sure there was a workable seal on the input shaft but worth the effort.) mean. Comments anyone?

Loosen the 2 bolts holding scv bracket to final drive housing then remove hose between scv & RS housing. With scv lever in neutral start engine no oil should exit where hose was connected. If no oil where hose was then RS valve seals are the problem

Hi-lo unit didn't have anything to do with rockshaft oil fountain. That sounds more like piston seal or o-rings in
control valve. The sealing issue i had with removing the hi-lo unit was to keep the oil in the transmission housing
from leaking into the extension housing and clutch around the input shaft. The hi-lo unit seals the input shaft
internally in the planetary housing of the unit. Since i eliminated all the guts of the planetary I had to have another
way to seal the input shaft. I don't have a good way to post diagrams but if memory serves me there was a location in
the extension housing to put a seal and I just determined where the input shaft lined up with that area and put it in
the lathe and made it round and smooth in that spot. Then looked up a seal by OD/ID to fit that spot. Lots of info but
nothing related to your issue. I also had a steady spray of oil in rockshaft housing when lift was up and lift would
drop when shut tractor off. Piston seal was literally gone on the bottom 1/3 of the piston.

Mine doesnt leak down when shut off. Thanks all for the reply. Tx Jim, no oil coming out good or no oil bad?

Is that loosen couplers at rear or remote valves controlled from cab and which valve. Trying to get it straight in my head.

The fact that your tractor has a cab makes accessing scv return line to RS housing more of a challenge.I'm guessing your tractor has poppet valve type scv's. You can loosen banjo fitting(encircled in red) then with levers in neutral no oil should exit loose fitting when engine is started
