2 Questions:
What is this equipment? Is it a John Deere? Is it a Dain Manufacturing Company Equipment - Hay Chopper, Windrow Pick Up Press, Ect? Trying to find out what it is and Model/Year. I have the John Deere Engine on it, just need to find out what the equipment it sits on is? Photo off of internet but no info of it. Can only fine 2 photos on the internet total.

My engine I am told by Two Cylinder is a John Deere Model "LUE" made in 1944 and the Destination was the Dain Manufacturing Co. (John Deere-Dain Hay Works). They did not tell me what kind of equipment it went to. My Serial # Tag on the engine tells me it is a John Deere "LU" Power Unit. So I don't know if a "LU" or a "LUE" is the same or different?

Any info would be great! I am at a loss.

Look for other castings on the machine for a part number and repost.

Part numbers starting with "E" is the John Deere (originally Dain) factory part number designation here at Ottumwa, Iowa.

The machine in the photo is a baler, but probably called a pickup hay press of that era. Have not seen a photo of one
before. Are there other pictures of the machine?

I have an LUE just like that . I think the E in LUE meant it was sent or made for Dain. Also only like 1300 went to Dain and as far as I know the rear gearbox on the LUE was not used in the other LU engine series.

Thank You for the info.

None that I am aware of (photos).

My engine is covered with a bad repaint job of many years ago. Can not find any other info on it until a restore to get rid of the paint.

Thank You

I think you are right - close but not the same.

It seems to be no one can tell me the model or name of the machine the engine is sitting on in the photo. My engine is from 1944 per the 2 cylinder club, so this machine has to be 1944 or later. The front wheel and some small other items are what's different, but close.

Thank You
