Loose first reduction gear bearing

An early 40's B I am working on spun the bearing in the first reduction gear housing and it appears to have spun for quite awhile. The outer race was cracked and only four rusty balls were still in the bearing. I estimate the hole to be worn .010 oversized. The owner doesn't want to spend much on this tractor and plans to only parade it around. Will JB Weld hold up if I smear it on the new bearing before I put it in?

Use a center punch and make a lot of punch marks in an orderly fashion first, then the Jb weld,,that should hold it in place.

I had a messed up bearing in a Bronco 2 and knurling as previously described worked with JB weld so I'm sure it would work on the B....rough up the outside of the bearing race also...you might put some cross groves...lightly...then punch the knurls into the housing. Let it set a couple of days to bond good...be sure the areas are clean...

Thanks guys. Will look into the Loctite product. Mark how far away from Albert City are you in case I need a new cover?

Find some band strapping from a shipping crate. If you are lucky it will be the same width
as the bearing. If not cut it with tin snips. Put the band in the reduction gear cover
around the bearing as a shim. When you get it fitted as tight as possible loctite it in
with the bearing.
