loader/grapple hydraulic question!

thanks in advance for any and all help!

I have a 67 jd 4020 ps. I added an allied 695 loader that also came with a allied grapple. I plumbed the loader in directly so I could use my rear hyd. I have a prince joystick with a separate spool for the joystick to the side.

My problem is this, when my grapple is open and I try to raise the loader it raises but is jerky. When the grapple is closed all motions are smooth. What am I overlooking?????....again thanks in advance

Hyd pressure takes the path of least resistance so only way I see to solve your hyd problem is install a priority valve that will give loader boom priority pressure or does Prince grapple control valve have a closed center plug with a good seal?

That is the joystick I installed....it came open center but I installed a closed center plug. Do you think it is the wrong joystick for my application?

I am confused ,,the loader function should act the same no matter where the grapple is stopped at when the grapple valve is centered....so if that part of the valve is some how an "Open" system,, it would affect the loader function in the same manner,,up or down...

well it definatly has me baffled...grapple its self weights 1200 lbs so I thought maybe when its all the way open it puts a lot of extra weight WAY out there beyond the loader but for some reason when its closed the loader function works flawlessly but when its opened the loader is really jerky and shakes when raising it

In the specs for the valve, it states "factory set at 2000 psi" If you have not done so already, you need to tighten the pressure relief set screw all the way in. TimS
and TxJim both told me to do that this spring when I installed my joystick.

No Mike I forgot all about that. I do remember reading that. I will definitely do that and report back if that makes any difference.

I will check my fluid levels again. I changed filteres here about a month ago and topped it off and checked it then but maybe my loader sucked up more than I thought!
