Lead washers on JD D (1or 2)

Getting ready to replace the head after 4 new valves installed and was not sure on the lead washers. I've heard one and I've heard 2. What is
the correct amount is my question. My manuals don't say. Thanks for your help.

Both parts catalogs, PC658 (unstyled), and PC659 (styled), show 18 lead washers per head, along with 9 studs and 9 nuts, so it looks like "2" is the number of lead washers per stud.!

That does seem strange the D parts book calls for 2 per stud ? I guess the D's larger studs must have larger gaps to fill ?
So like the book says 2 per stud for a total of 18. The extra will just squish out anyhow. Just trim the excess off after they are torqued down.

I use ONE LEAD WASHER per Head Stud under each Nut.

I use only PARTS LIST PL-RDl-7-46

JD Styled Tractors S # 143800 AND UP:

Item # 14..Ref.No. AD 1769 R Lead Washer (9 USED) (Box of 50):

Head Nuts are torqued to 208 FT-Lbs.:

I use ONE Lead washer per Head Stud:

So one or the other of those parts lists has a misprint ?

The one that called for 18 (2 per stud) seemed odd as every other Deere book seems to call out 1 per stud as I recall, and you usually get plenty to trim off.
