DLTX two bad floats in a year

Just got another float full of gas in my DLTX16 equipped DI.

This is the second bad brass float in a years time, and this second one doesn't really have that much for running time on it. I'm running normal pump gas, though I can see a decent amount of green on the new float. I didn't see anything rubbing when I reassembled it.

I think I'll try to solder the newer float, if I can find the hole. If not, another new one. Geez.

Has anyone else had this problem? Are the new floats junk?

I had floats going bad in my 44 hand start too. They were green too. I hung some .243 brass in the tank & it turned green too. So I drained the tank & let it dry for a week or so. That was 2 years ago & it has been OK since. I don't know what was in that gas.??

Don't know where you get yours, and don't expect you to say on here. That said, yes there are some quality challenged floats out there. All "brass" and "solder" is NOT equal...to say nothing of manufacturing process'. The best you can do is buy from a reputable carb builder who uses his own product. That's the only way I go. Stay off e-bay and I won't mention the other "all brand" sellers. You get my drift. Fuel is subject also, but probably not your problem. I've never gotten a bad one or had a newer one go bad.

Also forgot to say...I have two hanging on the wall that look like new BUT they both have very fine cracks in the TOP of ea one. No impact damage or anything. The only way you can tell they leak is dip in hot water or turn them over when dry and in a few seconds you see little wet spots show up. Top side of float! Never touches ethanol fuel or any fuel unless bounced while driving. Could set full of fuel forever and not touch top of float. My opinion...they are inferior when made. I hardly ever find a float that leaks on the bottom half unless damaged.

I bought my Float from Roberts Carb about 4 years ago with no problems. May want to give them a ring. I buy all my parts from them and there good quality parts.
