Questions about a D model

I found an old D model on the Farm and talked to dad and he told me he used to use the tractor when he was on the Farm, told me that it originally had steel wheels on it but it had been changed over to rubber.

The Tractor has been sitting in a field growed up in Briars.
Tires are almost all the way rotted off but amazingly since it has been sitting Exposed to the elements it does not have a ton of rust.

I am trying to figure out how much approximately it might cost to get running again. Not to be like new but just to get running and moving again.?

Dad is not a Mechanic and neither am I but I can turn a wrench.

Too many variables here to be able to answer that question. Is the engine tight? If so might not take much to get it loose or worst case, the block could have gotten water in it and froze. Block could be junk. Could cost from a few hundred to well over $1000.00. The only way to tell is, start working on it and see what you find.

One like that could be as simple as filling the cylinders with ATF and letting it soak a week or so. Also putting in new points and rebuilding the carb. Or it could need a complete rebuild hard to say till you get it out and see if it is locked up etc. I have pulled a good many tractors out of fence lines etc. where you had to cut a tree down because it was grown up into it etc. and got them running in less them a month and others I never got running again

I have several STYLED JD D's purchased from fence lines. After all was said, these three have cost me an average $2000.00 per tractor and they operate perfectly. These machines cost me $300.00>$900.00 per Tractor. I invested my time, ( I'm a licenced Heavy duty mechanic 40 + years) and with the exception of the Crankshafts, everything else was dismantled, inspected replaced parts as per required. At the end of the day, nothing was serviced or repaired by anyone other than myself.
The $2000.00 / Tractor reflects SERVICE MANUALS,OPERATING MANUALS,PARTS MANUALS, Lubricants, and every part and component that had to be serviced and or replaced.
