Anyone have a guess?! Only one I've seen.

I could have bought one 25 years ago from a friend who jockeyed tractors for $6500. I also passed up several 1206's for less than $6000 back then as well. I knew it was rare but did not have the money. Tom

It has a 3020 RCU front axle, a shorter steering column, smaller wheels on the back:I am guessing 18.4-30 (easy to find the disk from 4020 STD). So the tractor itself is cheap to built... Are those factory options that makes a 4230 a low profile? It is possible that they used the former generation front axle for this variant, same way a 4010 could have the very narrow wide fronts from the twin cylincers.

The rear fenders are aftermarket.

I would check on authenticity on built from factory before giving it more value than what it really is. Could be that the company that installed the fenders also swapped rear wheels, front axle, shortened the steering wheels.

I am spectical on it also based on the fact that this tractor does not have the downdraft manifold, a must have on an orchard tractor with orchard fenders...

It says all matching engine with tractor and certification from John Deere I would guess it is legit. And they are a hard to find option. I have seen a couple with upright exhaust. Not sure if it's in the parts book or not I saw one sell on Keane thimmel auction. A couple years ago for 48k restored and a 1 of I think 46powershift models. It will be interesting to see how it goes!

You are probably correct on the exhaust. Someone has modified that tractor. The muffler is installed backward and the hole in the hood is not perfect...
I checjef on google and all 30 series liw profile have a 3020 rcu front axle...

(quoted from post at 10:31:08 09/08/17) How about a 4030 4 post low pro?

Let's find a 4030 low profile powershift without 3 points but with 3 remotes, with still the originals aluminum decals in perfct shape, and a special variant of the hfwa front axle with the knuckles welded higher to reduce ground clearance... that may be rare! :D

Except there were no factory 4030 with a powershift built.

From the research I have done It is a real tractor and a production model. Things that may help it our or hurt it I would say are the fender option. It was more than likely used in a citrus grove. When the 3 series was introduced the orchard style fender was no longer an option. With an orange grove the rops wouldn't be in the way to badly. It looks to me the under hood exhaust if it was equipped with this had to be removed due to the orchard fenders. It has the short side console, proper wheels, front axle with convertible front. It is legit. As far as value it depends who is there and doesn't have one. 1 of 18 is very very rare. I have seen them bring for one in this condition 25 to 30k and restored around 5oK I have never seen a syncro sell ever. It will be fun to see the results!
