JD 2130 Water Pump Confusion

I had the water pump in my 2130 rebuilt a couple years ago and it has failed again--this time taking out the radiator and the fan. Don't want to go there again. I ordered an AR97708 water pump on EBay that was listed as compatible with my JD2130 (SN 238209L). The JD parts lookup calls for an AR85250. When I removed my old pump I noticed that two of the small ports do not line up the same. The ones on mine are closer together. In Google searching for either part number I get images that look like both my pump (on the right) and the one I received (on the left). I hate returning the pump, because it was listed as new John Deere surplus (not an old no-name or rebuilt one), and it was only $125. I'm not in a big hurry to get this fixed, and I thought maybe somebody might explain the confusion. It looks like it might be feasible to reroute one of the small hoses to make the one I ordered fit. Is that worth even trying?

Thanks,
Charlie

Too bad about the fan and the rad. There was no warning? I have rebuilt literally hundreds of those pumps over the years and have yet to have one fail like yours has. I still find it easier to rebuild what I have than venture down the "should fit" path. I don't know if you can get the oil cooler hoses to adapt to your new pump, not a lot of room up in there.

Fan belt was too tight and the fan pulley was also out of alignment on the water pump shaft .
think you may be right. The fan may also have been out of balance as well, which might have led to the water pump problems both times. Should have been more careful.

have to admit to some slight rattling noises, but there was no water leak until the sudden failure. I'm also having trouble finding a 2130 fan. 2030 fans seem plentiful, but not 2130. The part number I found was DD12151 for the 2130 and AT26373 for the similar 2030 tractor.

Somebody had replaced the water pump on my Uncles 1640 prior to my purchase of it. Not only did they fail to scrape all the old gasket and sealer from the block.
They also failed to bother sliding the pulley on the water pump shaft in line with the crank pulley. Btw the water pump pulley and alternator pulleys were changed as they were worn from slippage .
The alternator also needed a washer behind it to align it with the crank.

I normally rebuilt what I have that way I know it fits. Usually the bearings go and they still don't leak. Any wiggle at all at the fan blade will tell you the bearings are going bad.
Had a guy call me once his 2240 had a loud knock ,he thought his engine was going bad ? You could really hear it loud when sitting in the seat. Not so bad elsewhere. He had low hours so I didn't think he ruined an engine as he took good care of his stuff. On a whim I wiggled the fan blade and sure enough the water pump bearing was going. I still can't believe how much noise it made what sure sounded like from the engine and really loud sitting in the seat.
Use the casting number off the old pump to order the right rebuild kit.
