PTO on 4010

Having trouble with the PTO. When engaged and under load it seems to be slipping. The lever doesn't seem to have a spot when it gets harder to push and put PTO in gear. Pushes up very easily but seems to be slipping. Any ideas and does the tractor have to be split to fix
Thanks
Jerry

Remove inspection cover at the bottom of clutch housing. Look to see if one or more of the ends of the 3 fingers that brg presses against is worn off. Are all 4 rear pto stub shaft retaining bolts tight?

I'll check that. The back shaft is tight and I did have it come loose on a 3010 and had to replace the pin as in an earlier forum. Thank you for the info

While you have the inspection cover off notice the 2 grease fittings in there for the pto throw in bearing and the transmission clutch throw out bearing. Give them both a couple shots of grease.

When is the last time you adjusted the PTO clutch. There is a turn buckle under the steering valve (remove panel in front of your feet) for that. An owners manual will give you the details.
