LED Fender Lights, 4055

I am considering LED Fender, front and back, lights for a 4055. Deere's price is $108. I am seeing other sources varying from about $32 to $89. $49 seems to be the sweet spot.

Given the variation in price, I wonder about quality. (Yes, the LED it self should last a long time but he mfg, packaging, and other electronics are all subject to variation.) Can anyone give input? Are there any to stay away from?

Thanks.

I bought some SUPER cheap lights on ebay for our 2440. They were not JD matches but were just super cheapies. Two years of being on our spray tractor and surprisingly still good shape with no problems in quality.

I am looking to upgrade rear fender mounted lights and front cab mounted lights to LED on our 7400. Also at the cab lights front and back in the roof. I see the same thing you are seeing with the HUGE price variation. I can't justify the price at JD but I too wonder about quality on the others. Almost bit the bullet and bought a set on ebay - think they were $60 for the pair of rear fender mounted lights. Says exact JD replacement...

Hi HotFlashjr. Thanks for your response. I know this is "fox watching the henhouse" but I called Tigerlights, $39 or $49 depending on wattage, and among other questions asked this question. The response was based around materials used and the quality level of the LED's. The gentleman cited a number of material differences it could be. One that stuck in my mind was the sealing means. He said the cheaper ones use paper gaskets and the better ones use O-rings. He also mentioned other materials used in the construction of the light. As an Electrical Engineer, I can envision a number of things that might be used to cheapen construction.

The Tigerlight guy said he thought the John Deere LED lights are made in the USA. He said the Tigerlights are made in China but under strict specifications. I understand what he was saying. In the company I worked for we moved a lot of electronic assemblies to China and found good products can be made but you really have to enforce your specifications.

See Blazer-International.com to learn where to use Flood vs Trapezoidal lights. Tigerlights has an interesting light that is both. I asked how that can be. He explained that in the big lens there are small lenses for each LED. Those lenses are shaped for far and short distances. Some lenses short. Some far. Now that is something you could not do with a filament bulb. That is their 24W LED to fit the JD tractors.

By the way, the guy I talked to at Tigerlights was very helpful and knowledgeable.

I also have on order the LED amber flashing lights for this 4055. The turn signal does not work although the flasher works. So that assembly is on order also. We will see how the LED lights work in the turn signal mode.

Fortunately in the 55 series the very front lights in the hood can be replaced with individual LED 2.5"x5.5" lights. See the picture. I already have them replaced, wow are they bright. $49 for Tigerlights at Shoup.

I want to apologize HotFlashJr, I have not got back to the erratic turn signals on my 4250 with the LED lights. I finished plowing in July and the plow and 4250 are in the shed waiting to be cleaned. I know you are waiting to see if replacing the flasher/turn signal assembly resolves the issue. Tim S is likely correct, more load would help. I still can't rationalize in my mind why additional loads are needed when these lights were specifically designed for this application.

Best Regards HotFlashJr.

I recently installed a set of LED lights on my 4440. I bought them from Larsen Lights. They are a good product and I received good service from them. The kit price was around $225 for eight lights. Be aware that many cheaper lights will cause radio interference. These lights caused none. Very happy with my purchase and will update the other tractors eventually. The kits even include dual beam LED's. Mike

I see they have a lot of offerings at good prices. And the kits are interesting.

I was tempted but since I have seven other Tigerlights on this tractor I decided to go with the:

TL3025
The TL3025 is a High Low Beam uses screwed connection points for installation. Uses original mount and wiring connection, Plug and Play. The low beam is a flood pattern, and the high beam adds a spot pattern. Replaces OEM Part Numbers: AR48723, AR85263, AR85264, AR93335, RE10962, RE10963, RE19081, RE19082

$49.

I don't need the hi/low but they guy said just hook to the Gnd and High Beam terminals. Terminals are screw like the Halogen I took off. They seem to push these and this is one of the few Shoup stocks. This light seems to be an inventory reducer as it fits so many applications. This is also the combination Flood/Spot I talked about yesterday so you have both close and far on the High Beam. 2200 Lumens, 24W vs the ~600 Lumens for a Halogen.

I talked to the TigerLights guy about the Larson Lights. He said he has heard nothing bad about them. I am thinking all of this stuff is so new it is hard to tell what the life will be.
