Thinking of putting a narrow front on 68 4020.Qestion are there different ones?I know some are roll-o-matic and some not and if there are heavy duty ones Thanks!

I believe there were two different pedestals depending on if WFE or NFE. The pedestal for the NFE is heavier built. Probably won't matter if it is just for show but otherwise................................

Specifically the plate coming off of the steering assembly and the housing as well as is my understanding.

Without looking at the parts book, I'd say no, there was only one pedestal. But I've been wrong plenty... The 30 series had different pedestals- WFE only, and convertible.

There were different Rollomatics available- the HD one would be the correct one for a 4020.

That is what I was told but we all know the problems that go with when we are "told" things. Can't say that I looked in the parts book.

I was told this is the standard non Rollamatic front.

The plate on the steer motor and bolt pattern is the same on all 3010/3020/4010/4020/4320,,a 50/60/70/and their sisters 20's and 30's will bolt to any 4020 also,,there are a regular duty and a heavy duty roll-A-Matic, the regular duty have 3 cap screws on the lower arm, the heavy have 4,,a newer non- Roll-A-matic is best to use on the larger tractors.

To my knowledge there is only one pedestal and that is the same on all 3020-4020's. There are two different rollamatics reguler and heavy duty. When buying a rollomatic make sure to check for slop in the gears as good ones are getting harder to find. Tom

There are at least three versions of the r-o-m's. Heavy duty for 4020 has the plates on them in a rectangle and four bolts. Four bolts in a square is not HD. Three bolt versions are two cylinder versions.

Get a parts book and compare the casting nos. on the ROM . The book shows the two sizes . Once you see a heavy duty you will know . Takes different axel bearings as well.
