JD 4320R 6 cyl fuel shut off solenoid

My 4320 has a brand new wiring harness on it and every time I go to start the tractor it just cranks until I let off of the key and then it will start. Yesterday I checked power at the solenoid and it is at 12v as long as the key is in the run position, however when you turn the key to crank the engine voltage goes to 0. I thought it may be in the key switch but I put a brand new one in it and still have the exact same problem. I'm pretty stumped with this one if anyone has help to offer I would greatly appreciate it.

Does the key switch have an accessory lug
that goes dead when you hit the starter
like in a car? Could be the solenoid is
plugged into that lug.

I don't believe so, I have checked all of the wiring diagrams from John Deere manual and everything is in the proper place and the wiring harness is brand new factory replacement so I'm not really sure what is going on with it at this point. I'm curious if I'm losing power to a ground somewhere when I turn the key or something faulty in the wire loom that I can't see

This is what is happening,, the wire going to the terminal for the solenoid is on the wrong post, you need to Identify the correct post and change the wire to match it. This may require unlatching the wire end and relocating it to the correct terminal...

Check voltage at the solenoid power wire source way back to the switch and see what you get. A bad ground should not affect the voltage going into the power wire if it is cranking OK. If you have power at the solenoid in the run position the solenoid power wire is probably OK.

Take your meter and see which switch post has 12v coming from it when the switch is in the cranking position.(or use an ohm meter with the battery unhooked and check the
post continuity) Then move your solenoid wire to it. Problem solved.

I will second that the wire going to the pump shut off is on the wrong terminal. I DO NOT care if it is "new" it is more than likely wired wrong in the key switch plug. That wire needs to be hot when on AND crank position. These harnesses from JD are made in Mexico and India. The quality is not what it used to be.

I wasted a week on a new JD 8110 helping a mechanic track down a intermittent circuit. Who ever built the harness just crimped the wire end on over the insulation. It would make contact some times and not at other times. Mexican harness, JD found more in other tractors with the same issue.

After about r hours of staring at JD prints and tracing every wire and terminal again this morning I finally found the problem, I had a wire on the wrong terminal on the breakers under the dash. The terminal I had it hooked to was an auxiliary breaker instead of a constant hot breaker. Thank you to everyone that chipped in help and helped me figure out the problem!
