720 rock shaft return spring

What method do you use for attaching the return spring on the rock shaft arm on a 720? I have tried putting it on the arm first, and then putting the bottom part on the spring on the bracket, but I can't extend the spring enough to push the bracket over the studs.

Been awhile but ? I may of hooked the bottom and then used a pry bar and slid the bolt and spacer into the top arm ?
Maybe you could stretch it out somehow and slip something in between the coils to hold it out a bit. Then when hooked up raise the rockshaft and remove them ?

you NEED a j hook, used on 720 730 ONLY ,go,s on the bottom of the spring

Now you mention it I was wondering if some had an extra part in there. That sounds familiar.

I hook the bottom and then use a large screw driver and stretch the spring until it slips on.

That "J" hook sounds like a real possible way to make it easier..

I have the mounting bolt already in place before I get to the spring...

The "J" hook was only used on the 620-630 series according to my parts books. :?:
