just wondering from any of you who have the B
registry book. I seen a local unstyled BN serial
number 54545. I would really like to know if it was
factory with the solid cast rim single front on
rubber.
it has narrow snap ring rear rims on cast hubs, on
the rear.
any info would be appreciated. thanks

The Production Register doesn’t show 54545 as a “BN” but shows it as a “B”. Here’s the rest of the information:

Build date 1938 02 17; Ship date 1938 02 18; Destination George White & Sons, London ONT Canada #115; PL 37152; Equipment ab58 gy

The Special Equipment Codes section says: ab58 = 5.00 x 15, 4-ply front and 7.50 x 36, 4-ply rear low-pressure pneumatic rubber tire (solid rear wheels); gy = Goodyear tires

dan can you give any info on unstyled b #2847. enjoyed talking to you at camp creek in july. thanks

Model "B", S/N 9405:

Build date 1935 08 14; Ship date 1935 08 14; Branch Kansas City MO; Destination T46964

No other information is given in the Production Register. Not sure about the meaning of "T46964" in the destination column. There are quite a number of such codes shown as destinations. I think there may have been an explanation (or an educated guess) about those codes in the Two-Cylinder magazine quite a while ago, but I don't recall the details. Sorry.

Model "B" S/N 2847:

Build date 1935 02 08; Ship date 1935 02 08; Branch Omaha, NE; Destination Kearney, NE

No other information is offered for this S/N.

Yes, I enjoyed our chat as well. Camp Creek is a very nice show but it's a little too far away for me (until they feature Deere again!)

I know from KC it went to southern MO and was sold by a dealer there, then it was traded back in and my Grandfather got it in 1940 and used it in the Seneca OK area till around 1977 when my dad got it

OK, here's the info on model "B" S/N 8484:

Build date 1935 07 23; Ship date 1935 07 24; Branch Minneapolis, MN; Destination Hastings, ND

Sorry, but the Production Register shows no other information for this tractor.

I bought a copy of the Unstyled "B" Production Register when the Two-Cylinder Club was still selling them. I'm not that much into model "B" tractors, but thought it might be an interesting book to have. And it is. Glad to be able to help those who who have asked.

Added note: There are cautions in the Production Register that state the records have been transcribed from the original hand-written Serial Number Register in the Deere archives. Furthermore, they comment that they believe some clerical errors were made at the time the tractor was being manufactured and recorded; such as having incorrect or confusing equipment codes. However, they state the Production Record is as accurately transcribed as possible although the potential for error always exists....

thanks alot dan, there is no history on the tractor, so it was interesting to know that it was a local tractor that was shipped to London.
My grandfather worked at George White were he put on alot of spade lugs on steel wheeled tractors and helped get thrashing machines ready for delivery. I was told a little john deere LI was used to move the threshers around.
getting back to the B tractor I was a little disapointed that it was not an original single front but it could have been converted even at the George White dealer. thanks again for the info.

Here you go -

Model "B" S/N 42109:

Build date 1937 06 24; Ship date 1937 06 25; Branch Moline, IL; Destination Mason City, IA; Equipment SW, ab16, gy

Equipment code: SW = (assumed to mean skeleton wheels); ab16 = 5.00 x 15, 4-ply front low-pressure pneumatic rubber tires and 48-inch skeleton rear wheels; gy = Goodyear tires

jdadict: can you e-mail me? A former owner of this machine saw your post and wants me to get his phone # to you. I found the George White connection interesting, not a lot of talk on here about their role in JD distribution. Are you in Ontario?

Dan , would you have time to look up "B" # 1711. My son owned it for years . We still know where it is at, but do not it s history. Thanks. clint

Sure, Clint. Looks like yours may have been a Christmas present for somebody back then.

Model "B", S/N 1711:

Build date 1934 12 20; Ship date 1934 12 20; Branch Moline, IL; Destination Mendota, IL Equipment ab370, ab374

There's no PL serial number so it probably wasn't equipped with one (power lift)

Equipment codes: ab370 = front wheels with 5.00 x 15, 4-ply low-pressure pneumatic rubber tires and bearings; ab374 = rear wheel with 9.00 x 36, 4-ply low-pressure pneumatic rubber tires

Thank you, Dan. Your info is 'rite on', The B had no power lift and the tire sizes are about what was on it when I bought it for him over 40 yrs ago. We bought it only 20 miles from Mendota,Ill.
Thanks again, clint

Hey tech 7, I do live in ontario, about half an hour from the former George white plant in London
I am an avid john deere collector and came across this unstyled B tractor. I cant seem to find my B registry book and thats why I put this post up. I knew someone would reply. just hit my email on the bottom if you want to get in contact with me. thanks.

Good Afternoon from the UK.

I have recently purchased an early styled B with the following serial number and wonder if anyone can help me with build date or info please:

Serial number: 155155

I know it to be 1944 and it has a George White & Son Co, London, Ontario dealer badge but any other information would be great.

Many thanks
