2010 DIESEL STARTING PROBLEM

Trying to start a 2010 TLB industrial. Hasn't run for 6 years. Owner remembers using ether to start it but only remembers using glow plugs to keep it running after starting. I don't have fuel at the injectors. Looks like a bleed screw on pump, but fuel comes out of it very slow, so question if it really is a bled screw. There is no fuel filter before the pump. My questions : 1.What is proper starting procedure? I've read some 2010 posts that mention a fuel primer before starting. 2.What is the bleeding procedure?

I would recommend to NEVER utilize ether on a 2010 diesel since it has glow plugs. If fuel primer(key 19) doesn't operate then I'd utilize a gasoline soaked towel covering air intake pipe or adding a little LPG in to intake with extreme caution. 2010 came from factory with a fuel filter. IIRC there is no bleed plug on IP. It's possible metering valve in IP is stuck closed

Make sure the injection pump is turning when the engine is cranked by removing the two screw timing side cover, and watch the timing mark plate while bumping the starter. It MUST turn or pump hydraulic head is seized and drive shaft broke. If it does turn but still no fuel to the injectors with the line nuts loose then it could be stuck internal parts, plungers, metering valve, etc. Have a Case 580 pump in now for the same stale fuel/ stuck parts trouble after setting awhile.

If you ascertain the pump is turning inside and not pumping fuel due to stuck plungers. You can backfeed compressed air into the pump and often knock them loose. Same method is used to air-time the pumps when no timing marks are visible. Just hook up an air line to a discharge port and rotate the engine until that port is in "inject" position. Air will travel into the high-pressure pump-plungers and often knock them loose if stuck.

sounds like you need the pump rebuilt. $ 1000. plus if you loosen like at the injectors turn motor over and nothing comes out you got problems. I went threw same thing with mine had pump rebuilt and now works fine, also make sure glow plugs are getting hot. Turn key to the left, count to 30 they should be hot to touch by than.

There is a primer that injects fuel into intake manifold, which was froze up. Injector pump shaft appears to have sheared from sitting. Hardly any suction on the intake. Needs overhaul.Brake is also froze. If I was 30 years old & had a use for it, I'd be interested, but too much to fix & try to sell for a profit.
