Bought a nice 4320 and was using it before I resold it and lost steering, brakes, and all hydraulics.Checked valve in front was fine so took off filter and no oil flow.I am assuming it is oil pump .Is it something I can change by removing deck or project for someone who knows what they are doing and should I buy new one or get a used one? Thanks

You can access the pump by removing rockshaft. Very easy:
Remove deck, disconnect 2 lines, and take the whole assembly off with seat and everything. Be carefull not to take it out to brutally with your forklift because you can snap the litle rocker arm for depth control. Maybe you can screw in an all thread in front of seat to help getting the rockshaft in and out straight.

1 man 1 hour is what it takes.

(quoted from post at 11:18:22 08/29/17) JD fiqured it would be around $800

If it sudden failure it might also be a broken or loose pipe in trans. Or broken rear bearing on top shaft. Or stuck open relief valve or thermal valve on block close to trans screen.

Not a worn out pump has wear will show up before pump quits.
Definitively worth fixing. If you do it yourself you can put a used pump but not if you pay for labor.
First you have to lift the rockshaft to understand what is the issue.

Had one here a while back that suddenly broke the pump, the bearing quill on the front of the top shaft bolts came loose and let the shaft float up and down killing the trans pump,,so if your pump has broken gears be sure to check this,,and of course that is a split behind the clutch housing...

They also offer a higher capacity transmission pump that will fit...but just barely!! That pump requires all new stuff pipes bolts and all.

(quoted from post at 07:58:31 08/30/17) I'm thinking that only 1 pump is available for the 4320...and it only fits the 4320's..

Yeh...I bet your right about the big pump. Thinking about it...I believe it was a 4430 I stuck the larger trans pump in.

I do recall that it was one of those 'omi-gosh!!..I don't think it's going to fit!' type of deals.

Tim is 4020 pump same? I am pretty sure rear pump is problem.Would a good used one be an option or go with new? Thanks

According to JDparts.com a 4020 trans pump won't fit a 4320. Possible trans pump donor tractors are listed below.

I just went through that here on a 4320 a while back, they are different from a 4020, and a used one would be hard to find. A friend of Mine has a 4320 set up to pull and had one break last Summer, he brought the broken pump to me to look at, I had a good used one at the time,,,I told him to check the front of the top shaft bearing quill before he installed it...he didn't..said they were in a hurry for the next pull,,,and it broke again before he went half way down the track..."Then" he checked the front quill and the bolts had backed out,,he came back to me looking for another one,,he was out of Luck..
