Stalling problem

My 316 stalls when shifting to a higher speed. Would appreciate any comments regarding what the cause might be.

Same issue but not a JD turned out to be a weak fuel pump, just when you needed it most she fell flat on face. This one was vacuum pulse driven with too strong of spring, found a weaker one and good solid power from then on. Yours is mechanical so one defect that might be at fault with current pump would be check valves not closing properly. Of course tend to fuel filter first, but I would assume it's the fuel pump. It might be fixed by taking it apart to see where it's defective too, but odds are good it will need a new one.

Kohler 1-cylinder version, or Onan 2-cylinder version?

Onan 2 cylinder

Make sure it is running on both cylinders. They can be running on one and you can not tell it by sound.
