3020, valve area noise, not good

gas 3020, guess I heard an extra noise, sounds just like the rain cap hitting the exhaust pipe, so I removed the top of the exhaust pipe, it's coming from the front cycl. sometimes it sounds like something rapping the muffler (just like rain cap noise) sometimes I think I can hear it in the cycl. Engine seems to idle near perfect (other than the noise) but acceleration, mid range and up, seems like your on 3cyl. someone said the valve keepers come off sometimes, idk, definantly something jacked with the valve train, I don't think this is even a high hour engine. asking on here before I tare into it later. thanx

Pull the valve cover and tell us what you see.

Sometimes the porcelain on the spark plugs will crack off and get on top of a piston . usually finally gets broken up more and blowe's out the exhaust . Remove the spark plug and run it some , might blow out . Could also be a chunk of carbon .

Could also be a broken ring has worked its way on top .

Could be most anything.

I would agree, pull the spark plug, inspect, then if nothing, pull valve cover and inspect.
