john deere 310b loader/backhoe growling for work

I bought the JD 310b i posted about yesterday.

growling noise seems near rear axle pumpkin, goes away completely when the backhoe stabilizer legs are moving up or down.

i see two filler caps, one above the cab floor and one below. the one below looks hard to get to. i only checked the upper one, it is very clean and full.

have not dug with the backhoe but seems to move well in all directions through full range of motion; however one of the stabilizer legs moves slow and choppy
 
got the shop manual

transmission is full on dipstick

i can't get to tractor now it will be more than a week until i can get it transported. it is not apparent in the manual what the other cap i saw was, will get pictures next week

looking at the manual there is something kind of in the area where the noise seemed to be called "hydraulic oil filter relief valve assembly" which looks like connected to the backhoe hydraulics, could that make a growling noise when backhoe hydraulics are not in use?
