3010 gas 12v generator to alternator conversion

Hey guys! So my dad picked up what looks to be a really nice 3010 gas. Previous owner removed generator and regulator and installed an alternator but doesn't have it hooked up. Most of what I'm seeing online covers 24v to 12v conversions on the diesels. After looking at the wiring diagrams, I think I have the wiring figured out, but just wanted.to double check I'm doing it right. Below is how I'm planning to hook it up, and still have function of the factory GEN light. Please let me know if I have something wrong! Thanks!

BLUE wire (12v power) to BAT terminal on alternator
BAT terminal on alternator jumpered to #2 terminal
BLACK from GEN light to alternator #1 terminal

Delco 10si alternator.

Sounds correct to me. Everything I know about alternators I learned on this site! I was 50 years old before I figured it out, so you are way ahead of the game. Keep working on tractors!

Take your gen. bracket and flip it upside down and it works perfect for an alt. bracket. You will need to grind the front corner off some for clearance. Tom

I don't know about colors of the wires, but if its a Delco 10SI family of three wire alternators the big rear main output stud is the output charge wire that leads to the battery and for the two small side terminals 1R is the Excitation Circuit that could wire to an incandescent idiot charge indictor lamp for excitation, while 2F is the voltage sense which many people jump to the big rear output while others may wire up to the battery itself for voltage sensing.

The tractor came positive ground. The alternator has about a 98% chance of being negative ground. Leaving the tractor positive ground will instantly destroy your new alternator!

Also you will need a negative ground fuel
gauge from a console 3020/4020 tractor.

Yeppers, if it hasn't already had the battery reversed over to Neg ground as required for the standard Neg ground alternator conversion (we dont know if it was or wasn't) a simple battery cable swap, coil leads swap, plus a correct fuel gauge and he's off to the races.

It was negative ground when we got it with the alternator already installed (new bracket), just not hooked up. Haven't run it much, but believe the fuel gauge was working.. will keep an eye on it once the wiring is finished. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. The fact a Delco alternator was already installed meant there was a good chance battery polarity had already been changed over to Neg ground to match the alternator.
