well i had some luck this weekend. I started with setting points on mag at 16th and squaring up contact surfaces. I also set plugs
to 25th. Then i adjusted timing to click directly on lh impulse. Just like i was told on this site, no choke and idle throttle i
was able to get it to start. thanks to all that helped us.

I have a 39 H and I have just gone through the same thing. I have replaced the points, condenser, rotor and plugs still couldn't get it to crank. I ran across an old post and it was about the same info they gave you. Full choke and spin in the opposite direction about two rounds then no choke and idle, spin it forward and it will start, it worked for me. With that info I took it to a Tractor Show this weekend and it cranked perfectly

Good Luck

Thanks for the follow-up, Bill. Every tractor has its own funny little starting characteristics, but almost every "H" I've heard of starts best with little or no throttle and VERY little, if any, choking.

Will agree with you Dan. All of ours are very little throttle and choke.
