John Deere 1650

I got an opportunity to get a JD 1650. Other than a few videos on them, can anyone shed any light on them? reliability, what to avoid, or not, etc.
Thanks

There may have been other other Deere tractors wearing the 1650 number, but the one that comes to my mind was 60, maybe 62, pto hp, 4 cylinder engine-turbocharged, 9F, 3R, non synchronized. Available as 2WD or MFWD. It was completely made in Japan by Yanmar. Sold in the '80's, 90's era, If serviced as required, they were highly reliable.

Made by Yanmar, supposedly to Deere specs. I owned one, nice tractor, reliable and extremely fuel efficient. I believe/remember the 1650 held the Nebraska Tractor test fuel economy record for many years beating the old 2 cylinder diesels. The only thing I didn't like was the transmission.. had to come to a complete stop to shift.. collar shift transmission. Hydraulic controls and PTO engagement lever were in the 'right' places..as I recall. I used it on a round baler for a number of years before I got a cab tractor.

Those Yanmar made Deere's were some of the most reliable tractors ever made. Not so sure parts will be that available if/when needed. I'd like to have a whole set of those "50" series.
If I hit the lotto ! LOL. We have a 750 bought brand new and still looks about like new. It has around 2600 hours ? but is semi retired now.

Depends on price . Those entry level 4wd JD utility tractors are reasonable . 4wd is Far superior for loader use, hills and soft ground .

Thanks for the replies.I was supposed to hear back from him last night to make the arrangements, but after contacting him this morning, he told me that someone else came by and took it. Oh well ....

Any word on the selling price ? For a 2WD tractor they seem rather decent.
For a basic tractor in that HP range. One of these appear acceptable for the price .
I would be tempted to dial the 55HP to the 75HP level or the 85HP tractor to 100HP.
